Scenes from the road

For our recent trip to from Vancouver to Creston, we decided to try a new route: south across the border, then east over the Cascade Mountains and then across northern Washington and up the Idaho panhandle. Here are a few photos taken along the way:

The Cascades (Stevens Pass)
Steamboat rock, beside the Grand Coulee.
The Grand Coulee
In Northeastern Washington we crossed a long stretch of open range and farmland. There were a few abandoned houses, churches, and other buildings along the road.
You can't walk out of a drive in!
Dams on the Columbia River - this is why there are no salmon spawning in streams feeding the Columbia in BC (other than the Kokanee, which were trapped behind the dams).

(These are all scans of photos taken with my Nikon F3 or BeLOMO Vilia cameras, Kodak UltraMax film)
