Cascades

These are photos from a couple of days spent exploring the Canadian Cascade mountains, primarily in Skagit Valley and E. C. Manning Provincial Parks, east of Hope, British Columbia.  We spent a day hiking along the Skagit River south from the trail head on highway 3 in Manning Park. The Skagit was quite high and full of rapids, the water a beautiful aquamarine blue from the glacial till coming in with the many creeks running off the surrounding mountains. During our explorations, we saw a lot of animals including a moose trotting down the road, a couple black bears roaming through a mountainside forest, a herd of bighorn sheep, some mule deer, ospreys, many ravens, and some Clark's nutcrackers, which Nici made friends with (see pic below).

The forest beside the Skagit River was filled with the homes of little creatures.
