These photos are from a road trip to Deception Pass and Whidbey Island in Washington. We hiked through forests and dunes and along beaches and cliffs overlooking Puget Sound. We also explored an abandoned artillery fort. One of the highlights of the day was finding a dead barn owl. It was sad, but a thrill to get to see the wonderful creature up close.

ReplyDeleteIt's bull kelp - they have long stalks that go down to the bottom and gas-filled balls to hold the fronds at the surface.
